Christmas lights on a houseLast night, on my first drive around Meath since I got back from UCD for the holidays, I passed a string of houses who basically seem to have entered into competition with each other to see which can reach the carbon footprint of a small Eastern European banana republic first.

It just made me wonder: I’ll bet they turn off the TV at the mains at night because leaving it on standby would drain electricity.
